Personal History of Squadron Leader William John Johnson

Mostly referred to as Johnny Johnson but by his mother’s family as Jack Johnson and by the early RAF as Bill Johnson so as not to be confused with the other Johnnie Johnson

Here is a brief history after leaving RAF by date

1958               City of London College full time course on Business Reorientation.

1959               Worked in Lloyd's Bank Stocks and Shares Department??

10 Jun 1959  Civil Service Commissioners medical.

25 Jun 1959  Operations Officer Grade II with Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation.

1959-61         First two years in Overseas directorate in London on sighting of navigational and landing aids.

1961               Officer-in-charge of noise monitoring team at LAP

1962               Inspection and licensing of aerodromes.

???                  Private Pilots Licence for helicopters and all aircraft in groups A & B. Nearly 3000 hours flying time as pilot.

14 Sep 1960 Invite to 20th Anniversary of Battle of Britain to Wng Cdr & Mrs W J Johnson!

8 Nov 1964    Catherine was born in Epsom!

8 Sep 1969    Living at "Rose Croft", Buggin Lane, Neston, Wirral, Cheshire.

7 Jul 1980      Living at 1 Redclyffe Court, York Road, Sutton, Surrey.

26 Sep 1980 Part-time bus driver for elderly and disabled for Epsom Council.

10 Feb 1996 Died in Northampton General Hospital on Saturday Evening, cremated at Milton on 16 February @ 11.30am.
