Treatment
Most
dyslexic students are very intelligent. Performance is usually less than
expected due to the inability of the brain to correctly interpret information
being received from outside or to correctly transmit the information in the
brain to the surrounding environment.
Scientists
and Educationalist are getting closer to finding out why the brain has this
difficulty but haven’t yet found the complete solution.
Detection
and treatment in schools has still a long way to go. Many brilliant dyslexics
will go undetected as their intelligence hides their inabilities. Less able
dyslexics fall well behind their peers which causes the education system to
react when they are about two or three years behind. This is unacceptable as by
this time the dyslexic has become frustrated with their performance causing low
self esteem and poor motivation which in turn may lead to truancy and crime.
